Walk the Theater of Pompey Online

Just a quick mention of Ann Wuyts marvelous write-up about a 3D rendering of Rome’s Theatrum Pompeium that you can wander around with an avatar without having to sign up for anything. Give it a try. Museums and history classes are transforming faster than we could have predicted…

Oh, hi there…

I haven’t blogged since May. Blogging just didn’t “fit” with what I’ve been up to. For the most part it has been a lot of project management, research, and offline writing. The life of a Jack-of-all-Strange freelancer!

Sadly, Virtual Worlds Keynote was not to be. While there was a lot of interest in the series, the timing just wasn’t right to get it off the ground. If I find myself between projects again in the future I’ll make a few calls and see who might be interested in picking up the gauntlet again, but for now we’ll have to let it rest.

Meanwhile, what to do about this blog!

I feel almost obligated to keep it alive, considering how long I’ve had it running and the fact that it is under my name. Still, I don’t think I want to keep the focus as narrow as it has been. “Business in Virtual Worlds” these days is like “Shoelace Design for Leather Boots”: a little too narrowly focused for me when I’m not getting paid to write about it.

I realize that super-narrow focus is what “successful” blogs are supposed to be all about, but this is my home on the net, not a storefront.

So, as of today, I’m making a shift. CalebBooker.com/blog will be about ‘net culture in general. This breaks me out of the world of 3D, allows me to discuss non-business related things, and gives me an excuse to be a critical curmudgeonly jerk when the need arises. I’ll also be reorganizing the root page to support other blogs I’ll be creating for completely unrelated things that fall under my regular Jack-of-all-Strange duties.
